As reported by, Firman Yosef, an official at the Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki monitoring post, confirmed that hot ash rained down on a nearby village, setting fire to buildings, including a convent.

“Our nuns ran out in panic under a rain of volcanic ash in the darkness,” said Agusta Palma, head of the Saint Gabriel Foundation, describing the chaos and fear as thick ash poured down on a convent in Hokeng village. Tragically, a nun in Hokeng died, and another remains missing,Indonesia sits atop the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area where multiple tectonic plates meet, leading to high levels of seismic and volcanic activity.
