A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after a collision with a pickup truck driven by a suspected DUI driver in Puyallup, Washington.
A man on a motorcycle was seriously hurt when he was hit by a driver suspected of DUI in Puyallup on Sunday. At around 6 p.m., the motorcyclist, a 28-year-old Pierce County man, was heading east on 39th Ave. SW. As he got to the 7000 block, a pickup truck entered the road from Seventh St. SW without yielding and crashed into the motorcycle, according to the Puyallup Police Department (PPD). The crash's impact sent the motorcycle and its rider across the street.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. PPD said the driver of the pickup, a 72-year-old Pierce County man, was evaluated for impairment and was later arrested for suspicion of DUI. The Metro Major Collision Response Team was investigating at the scene. During that time, 39th Ave. SW was closed in both directions between Ninth St. SW and Fifth St. SW
