A 63-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured after a vehicle attempting a left turn struck his motorcycle in Fairfield.
A motorcyclist lost his life Wednesday evening in Fairfield following a collision with a vehicle making a left turn . According to the Fairfield Police Department, the accident occurred around 8:05 p.m. near the intersection of West Texas Street and First Street. The motorcyclist was traveling west on West Texas Street, approaching a Circle K gas station, when a vehicle heading east in the opposite direction attempted a left turn into the Circle K driveway.
The vehicle, which had moved into the center lane for the turn, directly intersected the path of the oncoming motorcyclist, resulting in the rider being thrown from his motorcycle. Tragically, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities identified the deceased as 63-year-old Robert McPherson. The 68-year-old driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the ongoing investigation. Following screening for both alcohol and drugs, neither substance was suspected to have played a role in the crash. The driver sustained no injuries, and there were no other passengers in his vehicle. The accident caused West Texas Street to be closed for several hours overnight between Pennsylvania Avenue and Gregory Lane. The roadway has since reopened to traffic
