The Kane County Coroner's Office identified the motorcycle rider killed in Sunday's crash in Batavia as Jeffrey Smith, 61, of West Chicago, according to a news release.
After an autopsy Monday, the preliminary cause of death was multiple injuries due to a motor vehicle collision. Toxicology samples were collected and sent to a forensic lab for analysis, the release stated.
The crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. while both were traveling south in the 400 block of South River Street.
