A jury of 12 was seated Monday morning, with a couple of alternates yet to be selected. During jury selection, at least three prospective jurors disclosed knowing the victim and expressed concerns about their ability to remain objective. Another potential juror, who worked with the Humane Society, also indicated potential bias.
Prosecutors have warned the jury that they will present gruesome autopsy photos and police body camera footage of the attack. The county dog warden, who is expected to testify, was present at the prosecution table during jury selection. The Witherses have remained at the defense table throughout the proceedings, speaking little in court and appearing to have minimal interaction with their attorneys.
