The mother of an EMT who was stabbed while treating a man in the back of a New York City ambulance said she is afraid the man will be set free without any real consequences.
"Democrat policies in New York, including bail reform, protect criminals and allow them to be released with 'minimal consequences,'" Cara Fatum-Grant said, according to a report.Fatum-Grant's daughter, 25-year-old Julia Fatum, was stabbed on July 19 while she was treating 48-year-old Rudy Garcia as the pair made their way to Mount Sinai West.
Garcia is facing second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault charges and pleaded not guilty Monday, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office. "We expected him to plead not guilty, and we expect they will ask for some kind of plea bargain — we are worried that our daughter's struggle with be for nothing," Fatum-Grant said."People are literally getting away with murder in this state and change needs to be made."
