The mother of a young boy who was critically injured when he was pinned between two cars has spoken publicly for the first time about the incident. Huseyin Pek, eight, and his brother Burak, three, were playing soccer in the rear laneway of their grandparents’ home in Braybrook, Victoria on September 26 when they were struck.
Eight-year-old boy fighting back from life-threatening injuries Ngoc Thanh Vo, who had allegedly jumped behind the wheel of a Toyota Prado despite being unfamiliar with driving, had accelerated towards the two boys, hitting three parked cars in the process. The impact pushed one parked car into Burak, while Huseyin was pinned between the Prado’s bull bar and the back of a second car. While Burak suffered minor injuries, his older brother was not so lucky, suffering multiple serious injuries.
