A Washington state mother has been arrested on suspicion of murder after allegedly beating her 14-year-old son to death with an extension cord. The woman, who has not yet been charged, reportedly confessed to police that she lost control during a disciplinary session and struck her son repeatedly.
A 29-year-old woman is currently in jail facing murder charges after confessing to police that she severely beat and cut her 14-year-old son, leading to his death. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the woman called 911 from her home, reporting her son unresponsive while being disciplined. According to a Seattle police report, the woman admitted to using an extension cord to spank her son, stating it went too far.
She explained to investigators that her son had not completed his chores, angering her. She reportedly told him it was 'butt cutting time,' ordered him to remove his clothing, and then struck him repeatedly with the extension cord. The report alleges that the woman pushed the boy against the wall, causing him to strike his head, lose consciousness, and fall to the floor. She continued to beat him while he was on the floor and ordered him to stand, which he complied with. The beating reportedly lasted for approximately an hour. The woman claimed to have stopped when the boy became unresponsive. During a bail hearing on Friday, the woman refused to appear in court. However, her public defender argued for her release, emphasizing the trauma she was experiencing from losing her son and suggesting further trauma would result from incarceration. Despite this plea, Judge Jill Klinge sided with prosecutors who requested a $3 million bail. The woman's name is not being released by KOMO News as she has not yet been formally charged. Prosecutors anticipate filing charges by Tuesday. The victim is only identified in the police report as J.R., and his full name was not released in Friday's daily report by the King County Medical Examiner's Office
