It didn't take a jury long to deliver a verdict in the case of a mother who was accused ofChloe Alexis Driver, 24, appeared emotionless as the verdict was read in a Georgia court Wednesday morning, the jury determining she was "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt but mentally ill" on all charges.
Gropper said Ben Michael had at least two other wives, with Ben Michael and Driver sharing a child: Hannah. The district attorney claimed Driver murdered their daughter because she wanted Ben Michael all to herself. Garrett said Driver told her she reached out to her husband's and his wives for help, by they gave her CBD oil, which allegedly intensified her paranoia and delusional tendencies.
According to Garrett, Driver thought she was "pouring" evil into her daughter while breastfeeding the toddler. "There was a lot of evidence that she really believed by having with somebody who was married -- by having the child in this sort of open relationship -- that it was a sin and that she passed that sin on to her daughter," Garrett said. "And so they shared that -- that they were both embodiments of sin."
“It was very clear that she understood that she was killing Hannah and she understood the permanency of that decision,” the prosecution said, adding that Driver had "severe" presence of mind. “She always knew the consequence of the act ... Delusional compulsion does not comply in this case."
