He continued: ‘A lot of the tests that you could do in airports, like testing someone’s temperature for example, are not necessarily helpful or accurate ways of assessing whether someone has coronavirus.‘Most people’ are not being tested when they land in the UK In the UK, there are currently about 8,000 tests being carried out a day, despite ministers having previously claiming to have met a target of 10,000.
Jenrick refused to say whether the country had been ‘last in the queue’, after admitting that ‘every other developed country in the world is ordering the same tests’.
