Hamilton County is one area with the highest number of fatal domestic violence cases, right behind Franklin and Cuyahoga counties.

CINCINNATI - A new report calls 2025 Ohio ’s “most lethal year” yet as domestic violence homicides increase across the Buckeye state. The Ohio Domestic Violence Network counted 157 domestic violence homicides between July 2024 and June 2025 -- a 37% increase from the year before.

According to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office, there are 208 people facing at least one misdemeanor or felony domestic violence charge so far this year, starting Jan. 1.The YWCA, a social services organization, helped 334 adults and 296 children receive domestic violence services this year, Glover says. “There are a lot of cases that are undocumented. Sometimes the survivor doesn’t report it,” she tells FOX19 NOW. “They could be dependent on that other individual for financial support, and they don’t know about the financial resources outside in the community.” Hamilton County has not released its total number of domestic violence deaths. But several cases made headlines this year.Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich said Warren did not want the baby, so he had two family members shoot Kinamore while she was sleeping.When Howell asked for his wallet, Shoulders allegedly pulled out a gun and shot his boyfriend in the face.Glover says the most difficult time in a domestic violence situation is leaving.The YWCA runs a 24-hour domestic violence hotline for victims. From there, counselors can help victims create a safety plan for when they are ready to leave, find them housing, and help them become self-sustaining.“We have had many conversations regarding ‘the why.’ We don’t know the exact why but what we believe is there are a lot of stressors in the world right now,” she explained.
