A Jefferson County high school teacher, who was also a bus driver, died Wednesday in what authorities described as a “bus incident,” which took place in the parking lot before the driver ran his route.

The accident happened before 6:45 a.m. at Mortimer Jordan High School in north Jefferson County. It took place in the parking lot before the driver ran his route. “As you can imagine, this is a tight-knit community as a whole, a tight-knit faculty and staff as well,’' Gonsoulin said. “When you have a faculty member that passes away, it’s going to affect them.”
