The latest trailer for upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns expansion puts the spotlight on the Lin Kuei assassin Cyrax.

Khaos Reigns will finally bring Cyrax and Sektor back to the franchise as playable fighters for the first time since 2011’sLike previous iterations of the character, Cyrax is an assassin of the Sub Zero led Lin Kuei. Traditionally, they are portrayed as a male cyborg. However, they will be portrayed as a female human in Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns.

In the original Mortal Kombat games, Cyrax, Sektor, and Smoke were all human before becoming part of the Cyber Initiative. It’s possible this is Mortal Kombat 1’s interpretation of those events, but that is just speculation. In the new Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns trailer, Cyrax questions Sub Zero’s plan to crash Scorpion’s wedding. It seems she follows his orders anyways, as we see her attack the Wu Shi. Johnny Cage funnily remarks, “Oh, hell no. We are.

The trailer finishes gruesomely, showcasing one of Cyrax’s fatalities. Essentially, she takes Cage’s head off with her foot, flings it in the air, kicks it back at his body, and then stomps on it. There is also a glimpse of her animality, which turns her into a wasp. Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns introduces a number of new features to the fighting game. This includes a new story campaign, six new playable fighters, and the return of animalities.

Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 24, 2024.In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Warner Bros.
