Several additional rounds of potentially severe weather could be in store this week, with chances forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as temperatures heat up.

Storms led to flight delays and a ground stop at Chicago's O'Hare Airport early Monday morning -- and more could be on the way. NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Alicia Roman reported scattered showers and storms moving across parts of the Chicago area during the morning hours, though the threat could continue into the afternoon and evening hours.
"A lot of these storms are moving from the south, lifting northward, and some heavy rain right now just south of Waukegan, right around Vernon Hills," Roman said just after 5 a.m."This is where we do have a pocket of heavy rain, maybe even some small hail associated with this, lightning just to the north of McHenry. Also some lightning across portions of northern Cook County, north of Bloomingdale, just to the south of Wheeling.
So any scattered shower or storm that we have this morning, or going forward into the afternoon, could contain some heavy downpours. So keep that in mind.
"The showers and storms were expected to continue Monday night and into Tuesday morning.
"Tuesday through Thursday will be hot and humid. The pattern will also be favorable for several rounds of severe storms in the general region," the NWS wrote on X. Tuesday will see temps in the upper 80s, feeling like the 90s, where they will soar heading into Wednesday and Thursday.
"We'll bring back the potential for storms on Thursday, with severe weather possible on Thursday into the afternoon, and then temperatures will gradually begin to cool," Roman said.
