The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives didn't pass up the chance to take a shot at Ben Affleck's multiple divorces. During season 4, which premiered on Thursday, March 12, Zac Affleck expressed his concerns about wife Jen Affleck being so booked and busy with the show and Dancing With the Stars.
Zac, 28, was specifically worried about Jen's plans for them to remain in Los Angeles — and what it could mean for their marriage. 'It makes me worried because I don't think this life in Hollywood is really super conducive with a healthy marriage,' he said before elaborating in a confessional. 'Everyone knows that Hollywood is probably not the healthiest place for marriages.' Zac pointed out that a lot of high-profile actors 'get divorced multiple times.' The hit Hulu series used that moment to superimpose individual photos of Ben, 53, with ex-wives Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez, respectively. Ben and Garner, 53, initially met on the set of Pearl Harbor in 2001 and reconnected three years later. They exchanged vows in June 2005 before expanding their family. Following a decade of marriage, Affleck and Garner announced their decision to part ways. Affleck and Garner, who share three kids, have both publicly moved on after calling it quits. Garner has been dating John Miller off and on since 2018 while Affleck rekindled his romance with Lopez, 56. The director, who was previously engaged to Lopez from 2002 to 2004, reunited with the singer in early 2021. Us Weekly confirmed in August 2024 that Lopez filed for divorce. In a March 2025 interview with GQ, Ben noted that it was 'important to say' that there wasn't 'some major fracture' in his and Lopez's marriage. Affleck said that he understood 'wanting to divine or explore the kind of differences in perspective that we have in terms of how a person feels comfortable approaching the line between public and private life.' Despite that, he had 'nothing but respect' for his ex. 'There’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly ... the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,' he continued. 'There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue . The truth is, when you talk to somebody, 'Hey, what happened?' Well, there is no, 'This is what happened.'' He concluded: 'It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.'
