More than 70 bison relocated to Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation from The Wilds

A significant milestone has been reached in bison preservation thanks to a collaborative effort.

Through the joint effort, The Wilds , the Wildlife Restoration Foundation, the InterTribal Buffalo Council and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe successfully relocated 74 bison from The Wilds in Cumberland, OH to the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in South Dakota .

Following a traditional ceremony by a tribal elder of CRST, the bison were transported in two livestock trailers to the Reservation. Officials said the bison safely arrived at the Reservation after an 18-hour drive.
