Class 7A programs Dothan and Enterprise along with 3A state runner-up Houston Academy, 2A quarterfinalist Cottonwood and 1A semifinalist Elba dominated the Wiregrass’ all-state recognition for the 2024 football season.

People are also reading… Enterprise’s first-team all-state selections were all on defense in Class 7A – senior safety Eric Winters, senior defensive edge rusher Zion Grady, junior linebacker Walker Turner and senior defensive back Andrew Purcell. Enterprise’s Winters, an Auburn signee who played safety, wide receiver, quarterback and kick returner, was chosen all-state at defensive back. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder Winters was in on 85 tackles, including 61 solos from his safety position with five tackles for loss and one interception.
Houston Academy’s Mitchell, a 6-foot, 195-pounder, threw for 3,387 yards and 44 touchdowns to only two interceptions, averaging 225.8 yards and 2.9 touchdowns a game. He completed 76.4 percent of his passes . Mitchell also ran for 413 yards and four touchdowns in leading the Raider offense during a 13-2 season.
Adkins, a two-way standout who excelled at quarterback and at linebacker, was selected on defense. The Georgia State signee was in on 186 tackles over 14 games – 13.3 per game – with 31 tackles for losses and six quarterback sacks.
