New Delhi The bodies of more than 30 people have been pulled from the banks of the Ganges River in eastern India, as a second Covid-19 wave ravages the country and engulfs its healthcare system.
Indian media quoted Ashok Kumar, a local official for the town of Chausa in Bihar state's Buxar district, who corroborated reports of the discovery of bodies circulating on social media. However, Kumar told the Press Trust of India that authorities"cannot confirm whether the deceased were indeed COVID-19 positive." CNN could not reach the official on Monday.
