The Houston Economic Development Association hosted a concert to raise funds for these relief efforts, which totaled more than $20,000. HOUSTON COUNTY , Ala. - It’s been nearly four months since an EF-2 tornado ravished Cottonwood and recovery efforts continue.

The Houston Economic Development Association hosted a concert, where the money raised would be matched by HEDA then donated to the town’s recovery. A check with that raised funding was presented at the Houston County Commission meeting Tuesday morning, totaling $20,635.42. “We didn’t get any federal funds at all and we’re getting some help from the state on the firehouse and the senior citizens center coming together, but that’s not completed by no means,” said District 2 County Commissioner Tracy Adams. “This is just the right step. This is example of good people stepping up to help good people.”
