Moab is bracing for more severe weather Sunday afternoon, as the Storm Prediction Center has upgraded the area to a slight risk for severe storms through the ev
ening.
This comes just two days after severe flooding devastated the area. A Flood Watch is in effect for Moab and surrounding areas south from noon through Sunday evening, raising concerns of additional flooding. 2 News’ Jill Margetts said the weather shift resulted from a low-pressure storm system moving through Utah, which has pushed a fall-like cold front into the state. This front is expected to linger over central Utah, leading to high winds and cooler temperatures for northern and western parts of the state.
The Wasatch Front is forecasted to experience highs in the 70s, while eastern Utah will face gusty conditions throughout Sunday. Winds are anticipated to subside late in the night and into Monday morning. Residents of eastern Utah were advised to remain vigilant as conditions may become severe, with a potential for significant storm impacts.
