Laura Dern is checking in. The “Palm Royale” actress is set to replace Helena Bonham Carter on Season 4 of “The White Lotus” after the latter’s sudden exit from the series, Page Six has confirmed. Dern, 59, will not take over Carter’s exact role, but instead, the show’s creator, Mike White, is writing the “Jurassic Park” star her own character.
“New company is on the way,” read the social media upload. “#TheWhiteLotus season 4 welcomes Ben Kingsley, Max Minghella and Pekka Strang. ”Ben Kingsley and more stars have been announced as “White Lotus” Season 4 cast members.
The Oscar-winning actor is known for roles in “Schindler’s List,” “Gandhi” and more. Strang, for his part, is a Finnish star who recently acted in Netflix’s “The Last Kingdom Seven Kings Must Die” in 2023.
Max Minghella of “The Handmaid’s Tale” has also been tapped for the HBO series. The latest installment of the series is currently filming in France. An HBO spokesperson told Page Six that it became “apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set.
”“HBO, the producers and Mike White are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon,” the statement concluded. We confirmed the “Big Little Lies” star, 59, is not taking over Carter’s part, with White writing Dern her own character instead.
