It is more important to focus on the number of vaccinated people in the country than on the number of Covid-19 cases, World Health Organization’s representative to the Philippines Dr. Rejendra Yadav said.Recently, the country has been experiencing a steady decline in the number of Covid-19 cases.
“In short, whether the numbers will increase or not only time will tell. But also, we should not focus too much on the number [of Covid-19] cases, rather, the number people who are vaccinated, that is more important,” he continued.Yadav said the national government has already done a “tremendous commendable” job in ensuring there is ample supply of Covid-19 vaccines in the country.
Yadav said that over 70 percent of vaccination must be attained in order to “create adequate herd immunity.”Local executives in areas with low inoculation rates, he said, must step up to vaccinate more people in their respective areas.
