The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District has closed Overlook Park and Dam Service Road to make way for improvements.

Officials have temporarily closed Canyon Lake Overlook Park and Dam Service Road for maintenance work, the latest closures at the Comal County lake that has seen its water levels drop to record lows this year. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said the closures are to allow for work on the control tower service bridge and to install pipe rail fencing. The closures were effective Monday and will last through March 31, according to a statement on the U.S.

All Canyon Lake boat ramps now closed due to historically low water levels Only the North Park Campground will be open to the public for recreational use. The dam service road's closure also means motorized vehicles will not be allowed in the park. 'For the safety of the public, Overlook Park and Canyon Dam Service Road will be closed while this contract work is being performed,' Canyon Lake Manager Brett Mazey said in a written statement.
