More business groups including the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry have expressed support for embattled Manila International Airport Authority officials Cesar Chiong and Irene Montalbo, saying the Office of the Ombudsman should reverse its decision to dismiss these officials.
With this, the PCCI chief said there is a need for the Office of the Ombudsman to reverse and “look at it objectively.” Chiong’s camp, in a statement said, it is worth noting that Chiong’s predecessors at MIAA reassigned even larger numbers of personnel without facing any legal repercussions. Former M/Gen. Jose Angel Honrado , reassigned 646 employees, while Eddie Monreal reassigned 397 personnel during comparable periods, Chiong said in his petition with the Court of Appeals filed long before the dismissal decision of the Ombudsman.
