President Donald Trump lashes out at 'stupid people' as he tries to clamp down on criticism over records in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking investigation. 'Some stupid Republicans and foolish Republicans' are using a Democratic playbook he says.

ANNISTON — In a ceremony steeped in military tradition and gratitude, Col. Charles A. Moore assumed command of the Army’s Anniston Army Depot on Wednesday, succeeding Col. Craig A. Daniel in leading one of the Army’s logistics and maintenance installations.

The Army Tank‑Automotive and Armaments Command change‑of‑command ceremony, typically held under a pavilion, was moved indoors to the depot’s gymnasium because of summer weather. The event drew Army leaders, employees, family members and community representatives. During the ceremony, the passing of the unit colors — a symbolic gesture representing the transfer of authority — was conducted between Daniel and Moore under the supervision of Maj. Gen. Michael B. Lalor, commanding general of TACOM under Army Materiel Command. “This is going to be a hard act to follow,” Moore said, recognizing the progress made under Daniel’s leadership. “Your presence speaks volumes about your dedication to the Anniston Army Depot and the Army as a whole.” People are also reading… Moore, a veteran officer with a diverse career in conventional, special operations and logistical units, brings extensive experience to the depot. An Army brat who grew up in Maryland, Hawaii and Texas, he holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Mississippi State University and multiple master’s degrees, including one from the U.S. Naval War College. He transferred from the Medical Service Corps to the Logistics Corps in 2017 and has supported military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa and the Indo‑Pacific region. “I never thought I’d get the honor to be able to command the depot,” Moore said. “It truly means the world to me.” He thanked those who worked behind the scenes to make the ceremony possible and expressed gratitude to Lalor for his trust and mentorship. He emphasized the importance of the depot’s mission in supporting warfighters.“You’ve been awesome, man,” Moore said, turning to Daniel. “You’ve gone above and beyond. You’re not just a peer — you’re turning into a friend.”“This is the closest we’ve been stationed to home since leaving college at Mississippi State,” he said. He joked that his children might soon become Alabama football fans, even though the family is Bulldogs at heart. “I am a little bit worried that my kids might become either a Gamecock fan or a Tide or a Tiger fan instead of Mississippi State Bulldogs,” Moore said. “One of my daughters is already trending toward the Tigers because of their equestrian team.” Calling the depot the “crown jewel” of the Army’s organic industrial base, Moore said he looks forward to building on its legacy. “It’s one of the things that sets our military apart from all the other nations,” he said. “It’s very humbling to have friends from throughout my career here today.”“You’ve sacrificed so much to allow me to continue to serve, and it means the world to me,” Moore said. “Thank you for always challenging me to be a better husband and father. I love you.”“Anniston Army Depot is not just an operation. It’s a city, it’s an organization, it’s a location,” Daniel said. “We’ve got first responders, utilities, transportation — it’s a city in itself.” Daniel emphasized the depot’s global footprint, noting that Army divisions and brigades around the world rely on it, including the 1st Cavalry Division, 1st Infantry Division, 1st Armored Division, 3rd Infantry Division, 4th Infantry Division, 82nd Airborne Division and the National Guard. “It’s everybody — it’s our foreign allies and partners. And when I say our foreign allies and partners, we’re working and touching products for Romania today,” Daniel said. “We’re working and touching products for Ukraine today. We continue to do products for Poland. And seeing some folks here in the audience today who literally just landed from down under, we continue to crank out products for our partners in Australia.” Lorie Denton, director of the CREATE Innovation Center in Oxford, said Daniel has been one of her favorite commanders at the depot: “He was the first to jump on board when I approached him about the possibility with CREATE, and has done a great job of making sure that the depot has been fully engaged with the development of CREATE. Our community is definitely going to miss him,” Denton said. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Army song played and Moore, joined by the color guard, sang it proudly. A reception followed to welcome Moore and his family to their new command. Moore’s military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal with Valor, among others. He also holds the Combat Action Badge and foreign parachutist wings. He received the Maj. Gen. James M. Wright Master Logistician Award in 2014.
