Moore on late Tuesday evening declared victory over Carl in the unprecedented incumbent versus incumbent race.

- U.S. Representative Barry Moore had a significantly large task ahead of him after the Supreme Court’s June decision in Allen v. Milligan, resulting in the approval of a redrawn Alabama congressional map that saw his home base Wiregrass counties shifting to the state’s 1st district under fellow Rep. Jerry Carl out of Mobile.

“I am grateful to God, my family, the voters, my staff and the many dedicated volunteers and supporters who made tonight possible,” said Moore. “I am excited about getting to work for the people of Alabama’s First District. My wife Heather and I spent thousands of hours traveling the new district and getting to know the wonderful people who are fighting for the same things we are — small government, our constitutional freedoms, fiscal responsibility and a secure border.

Last week, a poll from Auburn University of Montgomery showed Moore trailing Carl, with 43% of Republican voters that responded saying they planned to vote for Carl and 35% saying they planned to vote for Moore, with an additional 22% remaining undecided.
