Mobile Police Department reports a successful and safe New Year's Eve celebration for the annual MoonPie Over Mobile event.
The Mobile Police Department on Thursday announced that there were no major incidents occurring during the city’s annual MoonPie Over Mobile event on New Year’s Eve. Our added security measures put in place to ensure the safety of everyone who attended the event helped make it a successful night,” an MPD spokesman stated in an email to media. Mobile police made four misdemeanor arrests, and only two vehicles had to be towed on New Year’s Eve in downtown Mobile.
MoonPie Over Mobile attendance estimates will be released once the final number is made available, the MPD said. “We appreciate the community’s efforts to make this annual tradition a safe experience for everyone,” wrote MPD Public Information Officer Blake Brown in the email.
