Moon Knight's future in the MCU has been unclear since his Phase 4 debut, and director Mohamed Diab's new comments suggest season 2 may not happen.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Mohamed Diab's comments suggest Moon Knight season 2 won't be developed for the MCU. Oscar Isaac debuted in the MCU's Phase 4 as Marc Spector, a former mercenary with dissociative identity disorder who shares his body with alternate personalities Steven Grant and Jake Lockley, and is also the avatar of the Egyptian god of the moon Khonshu.
Although the potential development of Moon Knight season 2 hasn't been officially confirmed, Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab recently spoke to Arabic Marvel to reveal more about the Marvel Studios creative process, and his hopes for the continuation of the series. Unfortunately, Diab mentioned that "Loki is the only series said will be in two parts," suggesting that Moon Knight season 2 may have never even been considered at Marvel Studios.
Marvel had determined it from the first day. Marvel’s series projects are all six episodes except for special projects like WandaVision. The usual format is six episodes. Loki is the only series they said will be in two parts from the first day. Marvel’s way is not the usual way where if the project succeeds, I say let’s renew it for a second season. It’s their plan, successful or not, they have a plan.
There has also been speculation that Marvel Studios could be setting up a potential Midnight Sons team in the MCU, following the Phase 4 introductions of Dane Whitman's Black Knight, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, and the further development of Doctor Strange. The MCU's Blade reboot could take huge strides in properly introducing this supernatural team from Marvel Comics, and so could feature the return of Oscar Isaac and May Calamawy as Moon Knight and Scarlet Scarab, respectively.
