“Between the strays, owner surrenders, litters of puppies and kittens come in, we’ve had over five hundred come in last month,” Lea Turbert, marketing and development director for the Montgomery Humane Society said. In the first four days of October alone, the shelter took in 69 animals. Turbert says community members can help. She says the shelter takes volunteers, monetary donations, and donations of supplies. But the most helpful thing you can do is adopt. All of the animals available for adoption are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on their vaccinations.
