For the second straight year, the Cleveland Monsters are headed to the Calder Cup Playoffs.
The Monsters will face the Toronto Marlies in the North Division First Round in a best-of-three series, starting on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Rocket Arena. The team will get a big boost headed into the postseason with the return of goaltender Jet Greaves and defenseman Denton Mateychuk who were in Columbus playing with the Blue Jackets before their season came to an end.
“It helps you play better defensively, helps you play with more confidence knowing you got a guy back there,” Head Coach Trent Vogelhuber said about the return of Greaves. “Dent’s the same way, he was here for 20-ish games at the beginning of the year and that was when record wise we were at our best, and I don’t think necessarily that was by accident.” Game 1 between the Monsters and Marlies will be broadcast on WUAB and Rock Entertainment Sports Network.
