Monmouth University students were told to shelter in place after officials received reports of a threatening email.
Students at Monmouth University were told to shelter in place for several hours as police flooded the campus on Tuesday.The Monmouth University Police Department received reports from students and staff that they received an email containing a bomb threat from an individual who claimed to be armed and on campus, according to university president Dr. Patrick F. Leahy.The West Long Branch, New Jersey university was then placed on lockdown.
'All of us are thankful that this situation was resolved safely and successfully, and we appreciate the support and cooperation we received from our students and staff who adhered to the shelter-in-place restriction,' Leahy said in a statement. 'On behalf of the University, I would like to express my appreciation for the efforts of the responding law enforcement agencies who assisted in our investigation.'The Monmouth County Emergency Response Team responded to the scene.
