Millions of eligible Brits are set to be handed hundreds of pounds worth of financial help amid the cost of living crisis
With the cost of living crisis keeping prices high, whether that be energy bills or groceries, getting as much financial support as possible is paramount for millions of Brits. Fortunately, the government is set to lend a hand by dishing out support worth as much as £1,350 in total this year to those on low incomes.
The announced package includes Cost of Living payments of up to £900 for households on eligible means-tested benefits. A separate £300 payment will be made to pensioner households and individuals in receipt of eligible disability benefits will receive a £150 payment. Below is a rundown of all the payments eligible people can expect between now and the end of the year.
The second cost of living payment of £300 is set to land in bank accounts soon, from October 31 to November 19 for most. During winter 2023/24, a pensioner payment of £300 will go out. The third cost of living cash, worth £299, is due to be sent out in spring 2024. The 2023 to 2024 scheme will start next month, November 1. The scheme does not include Scotland, as the nation has the Winter Heating Payment, which is a yearly payment of £50 that's paid automatically.
