Raymond Townsend has led Valley Christian, which has struggled for nearly two decades in WCAL play, to two signature league victories in 11 days.

Nico D’Augusta“We can go big, we can go small,” Townsend said. “It’s just learning how to play right now. Once they learn to play, they’re going to be pretty special.”

Campo has won 30 of its last 31 games and hasn’t lost to a Bay Area team since falling to Dublin in the semifinals of the North Coast Section Open Division playoffs in February 2020. Townsend is looking forward to the opportunity, just as he looked forward to one day coaching in the league he now calls home.
