Engineering firm Monadelphous Group has been awarded a A$160-million contract from Talison Lithium at the Greenbushes site, in Western Australia, for the construction of the chemical grade plant 3 (CGP3). Talison Lithium is a joint venture between ASX-listed IGO, Tianqi Lithium and US major Albemarle Corporation. The Greenbushes lithium mine has the capacity to deliver some 1.2-million tonnes a year of spodumene concentrate, and near-term expansions could add two additional chemical grade plants with a production capacity of 520 000 t/y each as well as a tailings retreatment plant with a production capacity of 280 000 t/y of chemical grade concentrate.

Monadelphous ‘s multidisciplinary contract to install a new crushing and screening facility and lithium concentrate processing plant, includes associated tank and piping fabrication works and electrical supply.said the award of the contract followed a successful period of early contractor involvement.
