A second grader student with autism was allegedly harassed by a classmate in the bathroom at a local school.
PENINSULA, Ohio - Victoria Mouse is standing up for her 9-year-old son. She says her son, who has been diagnosed with autism, was harassed by a classmate in the bathroom at Woodridge Elementary in Peninsula .“He said while he was using the bathroom another student in his class was continuously kicking the stall door down. Not down, but in until it finally opened up and he said that the other student looked at his private parts and continued to laugh at him,” said Mouse.
“We’ve spoken to the principal three times we’ve gotten a lot of I’m sorrys and indirect answers and a lot of you have to just trust us,” said Mouse.“They said they wouldn’t want to do that because it was his first time doing this and then they also said they could move my son but they didn’t want to put him in an uncomfortable position,” said Mouse.
19 News reached out to Woodridge Local School District. The superintendent couldn’t comment on individual student matters, but said in a statement: I want to reaffirm that we take all reports of potential misconduct very seriously. When concerns are brought to our attention, we follow established protocols, which include conducting thorough investigations, notifying the appropriate individuals, and taking any necessary steps to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
