Lalie Gomez keeps memories of her late daughter, Yvette Ornelaz, alive by sharing how donating her daughter's organs gave the gift of life.
When Lalie Gomez shares her late daughter’s story, it’s as if her child is smiling from heaven, saying, “Way to go, Mom .” The last time Gomez saw Yvette Ornelaz alive was June 28, 2003. She’d left with a friend on a motorcycle after playing in an afternoon co-ed softball game at Kennedy Sports Complex on the West Side . At 2:30 a.m., Gomez ’s phone rang. It was her daughter’s best friend. Ornelaz had been in an accident and was in the hospital.
