A Texas mother received a condolence letter for her son's death, despite him being alive. The return address was falsely linked to a Columbus organization, Mothers of Murdered Columbus Children. The founder, Malissa Thomas-St. Clair, confirmed they don't send condolences for deceased children and are working with law enforcement to investigate the incident.
Mom receives condolence letter for alive son, return address falsely links Columbus group. A Texas mom said she received a letter that sent condolences for her son's death just days before Christmas, but her son is not dead. The return address was listed to a Columbus organization.
"The mother asked, do you send condolences out on behalf of deceased children," Thomas-St. Clair said. "But that is not our best practice. We don't do that. Then, the mother told us that she received a condolence card with her son’s name listed as the person who was deceased from our P.O. Box, not signed. But the caveat is that her son is not deceased. Her son is well alive.
Thomas-St. Clair said law enforcement agencies in Texas and Columbus have been notified and are investigating.
