The association for the province\u0027s cities, towns and villages wants more formal consultation with the province, and supports for mental health.

While SUMA has in the past expressed gratitude for the revenue-sharing, it has called for the pool of money to be divided between rural and urban jurisdictions in line with population. In the latest round, just under 65 per cent of the money went to urban municipalities, which are home to about 80 per cent of the population.took the opportunity to repeat that call while speaking to media after Moe’s remarks.

Goulding said a more formal consultation process on this and other issues has become a priority, “so we know what to expect when we’re working with the provincial government and they know what to expect from our order of government.”Article content Moe highlighted the budget’s funding for 150 new treatment beds and urgent care centres in Saskatoon and Regina. While he stressed that he wasn’t making an immediate announcement of additional money, he said he expects a need for more program funds in the future.

“This remains a crisis,” Saskatoon Mayor Charlie Clark said of the mental health and addictions issue, noting communities large and small are grappling with these issues.
