Moe also talked about plans to push the federal government for more health\u002Dcare funding and his hope for more \u0022autonomy\u0022 over immigration.
Moe was responding to reporting from CTV News revealing former Saskatchewan premier Brad Wall sent strategic advice and had phone conversations with Chris Barber, a Saskatchewan resident and leading figure in the “Freedom Convoy” protest against COVID-19 vaccine measures that arrived in the capital city in January 2022.
Brad Wall pictured here in 2016. The former premier sent texts advising a leader of a controversial convoy that occupied much of downtown Ottawa for weeks in protest against COVID-19 health measures. Those records came to light as a result of ongoing prosecution against Barber and other convoy leaders.
The premier also vocally opposed the federal government’s decision to invoke the Emergencies Act to respond to the protests, arguing it was unnecessary. He said Saskatchewan would testify at an ongoing federal committee to that effect.Moe talks trip to Victoria But Moe said he also wants to push for more provincial “autonomy” in areas like natural resource development and immigration.
