The deaths of two models found dead in their downtown LA apartments just days apart do not seem to be related, the Los Angeles Police Department said. Nichole Coats, 31, was found dead on Sept. 10. Maleesa Mooney, 32, was found dead on Sept. 12Nichole Coats' death was ruled an accident caused by cocaine and ethanol toxicity, according to the medical examiner. Her case status remains "open.
Officers had responded to Coats' home to perform a welfare check around 10 a.m., but no one responded. Around two hours later, someone called to report a dead body at the home. Two days later, the body of Maleesa Mooney was found inside her apartment on the 200 block of South Figueroa Street on Sept 12. Her cause of death was "homicidal violence," according to the medical examiner.
