) - As a cold snap moves into the area, shelters are opening their doors to give people a warm, safe place to stay. City officials and nonprofit shelters in Mobile met today to finalize plans before temperatures drop.

Waterfront Rescue Mission is coordinating cold weather shelter operations in Mobile County. Alongside Waterfront Rescue, the Salvation Army and McKemie Place are prepared to activate as necessary.Wave Transit will waive fees on fixed routes for those going to shelters. Regional Director of Development for Waterfront Rescue Missions Eric Lindmark says no one seeking warmth should be left out in the cold. “Try to find a place, but if you need to come to us, we can get you moved around. Take it serious.
