The City of Mobile , AltaPointe Health, and Housing First , Inc. are working on ways to address homelessness in Mobile .
Housing First Inc. Director of Community Outreach Kendell Young was one of three representatives who traveled to Houston. He says the Harris County Sheriff's Office has a strategic method to help alleviate the effects of homelessness. Deputy Director of Public Safety Curtis Graves represented the City of Mobile. He tells me he enjoyed seeing what Harris County is doing right and he looks forward to implementing it in Mobile.
Dr. Cindy Gipson says AltaPointe Health received a Substance Abuse Mental Health Administration grant that will allow AltaPointe and its community partners to incorporate some of the strategies from Harris County. According to Gipson, work has already started on a homeless outreach team model.
