Mobile Fire-Rescue Chief Johnny Morris says Captain Brown immediately volunteered to go get the window washer himself by repelling from the 35th floor
) - Captain Robert Brown was recognized in front of the Mobile City Council as the July Firefighter of the Month. Several people in downtown Mobile looked on while Mobile Fire-Rescue worked to rescue a window washer whose equipment malfunctioned leaving him dangling 450 feet above the ground. down to where he was stuck. Brown was able to hook the window washer into a rescue line so they can both be pulled back up to safety.
“He relied on his training, his teammates, his family. When he took that dive, like I said he had butterflies we talked about it this morning. But when he repelled down and got that young man and brought him back up and everyone cheered from the street and we were happy,” said Chief Morris. “It was one of my proudest moments as a fire chief watching that operation from the command post.
