As early as next week, the council could vote on the contract for the civic center demolition and a resolution to approve the remaining design work for the new arena which is 60% completed.
) - The Mobile City Council is getting a first look at the $4 million contract to demolish the Mobile Civic Center in order to make way for a new state-of-the-art civic center arena.
The council will also consider a resolution to approve the remaining design work for the new arena which is currently 60% completed. Councilman William Carroll says so far things are going smoothly with the latest renderings, but he adds the consultants will still continue to meet with the architectural review board throughout the process.
“The western elevation is extremely nice. I think the building overall is nice too. I don’t know what’s going to happen after it goes back to the ARB for final approval and what they’re going to accept and what they’re not and what they’ll ask the consultants to change,” Carroll said.
