The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has vowed to run after the motorist who punched one of its traffic enforcer in Pasig City last week.

MMNDA Chairman Romando Artes said the behavior of motorist Jeric Baylen should not be tolerated, adding that he should be held responsible for his action against the traffic enforcer who was just doing his job.“The MMDA doesn’t condone road rage regardless if it is from our ranks or the motoring public. We want to remind the motorists, especially those who were apprehended, that they have the right to file a protest to contest their violation through our Traffic Adjudication Board.

In his sworn statement to the Pasig City Police Station, traffic enforcer Muslimin Hapi said he flagged down tBaylen at around 7pm last Friday along Meralco Avenue for reckless driving. But as he was preparing to issue an ordinance violation receipt to Baylen, the latter allegedly confronted him which resulted in a heated altercation. The enforcer then brought the suspect to the police station where he was charged with direct assault.

Artes said that the agency is providing Hapi all the legal assistance, emphasizing that the MMDA is one with their field personnel who are just doing their duties.
