PETALING JAYA: Children of medical frontliners should not be discriminated against in childcare centres, says the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA).

MMA president Dr N. Ganabaskaran said that frontliners and their children should not be subject to “discriminatory policies and practices”.

Appendix 12, Section 2.1.2 of the guidelines stated that frontliners’ children “are at high risk of getting the infection from their parents”. Earlier, a letter written by paediatrician Datuk Dr Amar Singh and signed by about 250 paediatricians had highlighted the updated childcare centre guidelines.

“The very individuals who desperately require childcare, so that they can serve us at this critical time, are being denied this.
