The former Cleveland pitcher has been suspended for two full seasons. It's the longest suspension handed out under MLB’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.
The Dodgers, who signed Bauer to a three-year, $102 million deal, issued this statement following Manfred’s decision:
“We’ve cooperated fully with MLB’s investigation since it began, and we fully support MLB’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Child Abuse Policy, and the Commissioner’s enforcement of the Policy. We understand that Trevor has the right to appeal the Commissioner’s decision. Therefore, we will not comment further until the process is complete.”
The Dodgers will not have to pay Bauer the remainder of his salary if he serves the whole suspension. In August a Los Angeles Super Court judge denied a restraining order to the woman. Before that hearing took place, the Washington Post published a story about an Ohio woman who sought a restraining order against Bauer in June of 2020. The woman, who dropped the request for a restraining order after Bauer’s lawyers threatened legal action, accused him of assault and sending her threatening messages.On Feb.
