Haggerty stole third and scored on Crawford's ground ball single down the first-base line for the 3-2 lead.Justin Verlander earned his major-league-leading 12th victory, and his battery mate, Martin Maldonado, hit a grand slam as host Houston shut out Oakland.
Dylan Bundy picked up the win, allowing three runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out three while improving to 6-0 in nine career appearances against the White Sox. Chicago had a four-game winning streak snapped.Paul Goldschmidt hit his 300th career homer and drove in three runs as St. Louis routed visiting Cincinnati.
Cubs starter Drew Smyly allowed two runs on five hits. He walked one and fanned four in 4 1/3 innings.Kris Bryant had three hits and Jose Urena tossed six scoreless innings as Colorado beat Pittsburgh in Denver. Vinnie Pasquantino had hit a two-run homer with two outs in the top of the 10th against Jordan Romano to give the Royals a 5-3 lead.Matt Olson and Austin Riley hit back-to-back home runs and visiting Atlanta beat struggling Washington.
