Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts updated the status of All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman one day before Game 3 of the NL Division Series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers didn't just lose Game 2 of the National League Division Series to the San Diego Padres on Sunday. They lost All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman in the process.Freeman, who's attempting to play through a sprained right ankle that he suffered Sept. 26, could not finish out the game after tweaking the ankle during his second at-bat in the Dodgers' 10-2 loss. Kiké Hernández took over at first base and batted third after Freeman left.
But in Game 2 on Sunday, Freeman aggravated the injury swinging at a pitch from Yu Darvish, which Roberts said prompted him to leave the game.Roberts added that Freeman spent Monday's off-day receiving treatment on his ankle and will try to play in Game 3.'If he's able to play and post,' Roberts told reporters in San Diego, 'he'll be in there.'Freeman was effectively a game-time decision prior to Saturday's Game 1.
