University of Tennessee right-hander Ben Joyce, whose fastball was clocked at 105.5 mph as a junior, was among the biggest names to leave the draft board on Monday when the Angels chose him with their third-round pick, 89th overall.
In a May game against Auburn, Joyce set a college record by throwing a pitch that was clocked at 105.5 mph. Joyce pitched a season-high four scoreless innings in relief that day, striking out six batters.
